Red Shed Palazzo – A treasure off the beaten track

Depending on the destination, South Auckland may be the perfect pit stop for a bite to eat on your next journey. But with a pup in your backseat, finding a suitable spot to enjoy an exceptional flat white and bacon eggs bene that’s also dog friendly is as we know, not always the simplest of tasks! Lucky for us, the somewhat countryside town of Karaka, that’s only thirty minutes south of Auckland City, is home to one well and truly, dog friendly cafe.

Not far off the beaten track, nestled amongst the tranquil surrounds of beautiful gardens and open air is the Red Shed Palazzo: A stylish, yet relaxed eatery tucked off the motorway down Jesmond Road. Family and most importantly, dog friendly, this humble setting attracts pup-lovin’ coffee seekers from all walks of life.

With the barn-style shed offering diners warmth throughout winter and a paved outdoor area featuring umbrella shaded tables, perfect for during the heat of summer, you’ll be spoilt for choice of where to lounge out, relax and take in the idyllic surroundings of the eatery. And if you think picking your final destination to sit yourself down for a delicious brekkie is going to be the hardest part, then think again. Red Shed Palazzo takes the crown of WINNER of the Rural Cafe of the Year Award, meaning their food is just as good, if not better than their beautiful eatery.

The menu boasting items from hearty breakfasts to light lunches is sure to please all diners with stand out options (we can totally vouch for) including the likes of Palazzo Mess and Savoury Beligan Style Waffles – YUM! Their famous home fried curry potato pieces are served with every egg breakfast and add nothing but charm to these wholesome meals.

Open five days a week from Wednesday to Sunday, Red Shed Palazzo is and always has been, welcoming to furry friends walking through their doors. With plenty of water bowls to go around, trees and umbrellas for shade and pats from staff and locals alike, consider this cafe a perfect place to take your pup! And if you swing by on a Sunday, be sure to stop and stroll through the markets. You never know what kind of home-made candles, woodwork, herb pots or art pieces you might find that’ll catch your eye!
