Kuaotunu – Beachside Beauty

Set just across the road from the beach, Beachside Beauty is a three bedroom Kuaotunu holiday home with the added bonus of a sleepout. This modern, relaxed beach base is ideal for a seaside getaway, with tastefully furnished interior, well equipped outdoor living, and Wi-Fi. Best of all, for a small fee of $20, up to two dogs can come on your holiday with you!

A favourite amongst visitors to the Coromandel, Beachside Beauty is one of our top picks for a comfortable holiday in a home away from home. The easy design includes a fresh and comfortable open plan in the main house, so kick back on the sofa and look out to the peaceful beach scenes, or unwind on the deck for cruisy Kuaotunu barbeques and sea views! The heat pump is ideal for holidays year round, while the spacious kitchen area is great for the keen cook to whip up some holiday feasts! A smart TV plus Apple TV are added extras you’ll find in this family friendly home, perfect for rainy days inside.

In the main house at this Kuaotunu accommodation, two bedrooms each have a queen bed, while the last bedroom has one single bed. The separate sleepout has its own TV and includes a queen bed, while a full bathroom in each dwelling ensures a well catered stay. You really won’t find a more affordable and well appointed option for adult groups or a large family!

Roll in from a day on the water and make use of the outdoor shower and fish filleting bench, a dream for those keen to make the most of the ample fishing areas in the region. If you’re into physical activity, there is a kayak for guest use (just make sure you outfit your pup in the Ruffwear Float Coat first!), along with two bikes ready and waiting for land based adventures – grab a handsfree leash and the pooch can run alongside!

If you’re up for a bit of adventure further afield, head to the stunning, dog friendly Otama Beach. Lined by Pohutukawa Trees, it’s a stunning location to spend a day with family or friends, and we absolutely love the fact that our dogs are permitted all day at the southern end. Swimming is good here, shade is ample and the sand and sea are clear and sparkling. What more could you want from a summer roadie? To top it off, in Kuaotunu (and neighbouring bays such as Matarangi and Opito Bay), you can walk with your dog off leash at most beaches all year round EXCEPT for public holiday weekends and the period from 20 December to 31 January (inclusive).

There are also a number of popular public walking tracks in the Kuaotunu/Matarangi area that permit dogs if they are on a lead. The walk from the Rings Beach carpark to Matarangi along the part of Bluff Rd has spectacular scenery and is an easy and pleasant walk. From this same carpark there is also access to the walking track in the Rings Beach Reserve.

So, we would love to know – is Coromandel the most dog friendly area of New Zealand? We think yes! It really is the perfect holiday destination for dog owners this summer, so book yourself in for a family getaway or group roadie to Beachside Beauty at Kuaotunu. We assure you, you won’t be disappointed!
