With floor to ceiling windows in almost every room, the backdrop to your holiday will be sunrises over the water and blue skies.
In the morning, take your dog and your coffee and stroll down your own private beach access from the large lawn, where you will be greeted by a sweeping, white sandy beach, which is completely dog-friendly at all times of the year. Let your best mate stretch out along the shore, while you watch the surfers tackle the early morning waves. If you’re keen to keep the heart rating going, continue on to the Huriawa Pā Walk, which will take you on a well-formed track around Huriawa Peninsula – the site of the pā of Te Wera and the legendary siege. Plaques along the way tell the history of the area and show the site of the old Waikouaiti Whaling Station and Tavern. Take in the spectacular views over Taiaroa Heads, Matanaka and Butterfly Bay – just make sure you leash up your fur-riend for his safety as well as the wildlife. The walk will pass blow holes, where the incoming tide is forced up through the rocks, so make sure you have your camera at the ready. If you’re lucky you may spot a seal or sea lion!
Heading back to your very own luxury retreat, break out the cheese platter and enjoy a beverage in the sun, or lounge inside with a pack of cards and the fire burning during the winter season. You’ll probably even want to head to bed early with the choice of three luxuriously dressed Super King beds waiting for you.
