Dog and Grog – A day out for the dogs

After a long work week, Saturday might be your one chance to sit back, relax and enjoy a book on the beach. And in the blaring hot heat of summer – we don’t blame you. But when Pocket Bar & Kitchen in Grey Lynn puts on a dog friendly event as good as this, well, we have to admit…the beach becomes a second thought.

Whether you go by yourself or bring along your furry friend, Dog and Grog, presented by VetCare Grey Lynn is the doggie event of the weekend and one you certainly don’t want to miss! Tucked away in a corner of the Grey Lynn shops, in the heart of this lively town itself is the well-established Pocket Bar & Kitchen.

A blend of natural good times and hand crafted comfort, Pocket provides diners with more than just a drool-worthy plate of food. Sun-drenched by day and luminous by night, the gabled greenhouse, deck and converted bar join forces to provide a great space for catching up with friends for a bite to eat, making a night of it and everything in between.

Although proudly dog friendly inside and out all year round, this little piece of Auckland hospitality becomes the hostess with the mostess, bringing the renowned Dog and Grog to life. This Saturday 21st November and the third Saturday of every month after that, from midday to 2:30pm, Pocket Bar & Kitchen houses Dog and Grog – an event aimed at encouraging the dog community to come together, socialise and mix and mingle with their canine (and human) counterparts. Enjoy a pint and a plate with your pup whilst chatting with the nurses from VetCare about any pressing, dodgy and slightly disgusting queries you might have – dog related, of course.

With plenty of delicious treats for the four-legged attendees on hand from local business, Gourmate Pet Treat Co and a menu boasting the best bar food at Pocket, we can guarantee neither you nor your pup will leave hungry. Let your dog indulge in the likes of Wild Caught Calamari (freeze-dried, that is), whilst our slightly more sophisticated taste buds delve into the Lightly Crumbed Fried Squid or Arancini Balls – yum!

If you’re looking to the weekend without a plan in sight, then it should come as no surprise we suggest booking a date with your pup at Dog and Grog! When you can expect nothing but a day full of fluff, food and fun with four-legged friends of all shapes and sizes, how could you say no? For more information, check out the event online here. We hope to see you there!
