Kinross is located in the heart of Gibbston, the world’s most southerly wine making region. So what better way to experience this amazing area than with a stay amongst the vines? The best part? Your dog can come too! With views of the vineyards and surrounding Pisa and Nevis mountains you’ll find utter relaxation and Kinross has 14 generously sized rooms with bathroom and kitchenette, so you will feel right at home.
Accommodation at Kinross Cottages is something a little unique, situated only 25 minutes from the centre of Queenstown and completely surrounded by nature, greenery and WINE! Positioned on their own working vineyard, Kinross is a cellar door, bistro and boutique accommodation all in one, perfect for couples or families alike. Kinross is the official cellar door for Coal Pit, Hawkshead, Kinross, Valli and Wild Irishman, so there’s plenty to discover if wine tasting is your thing. Just wander down to the cellar door with your dog and relax on the many outdoor tables, while the knowledgable staff talk you through the variety of different wines on offer.
With 40 acres of peace and quiet, Kinross really does provide the most unforgettable and relaxing holiday with your best mate in tow. Make use of the BBQ and Petanque area, unwind outside your cottage and watch the goings on of the working vineyard, or book the private outdoor hot tub for a romantic soak under the stars. Kinross has everything you need to rejuvenate and get back to nature.
Our favourite way to spend a day while in Gibbston? Head out on the Gibbston River Wine Trail, which passes through Kinross Vineyard. The trail is relatively new, well maintained, and of course, dog friendly! Just make sure your pooch is on their leash and you can enjoy a leisurely 8.7km (one way) walk through a range of beautiful vistas and stop offs including architecturally designed and award winning wineries, mountain ranges and the Kawerau River. The walk itself will take 2 – 2.5 hours, so make a day of it and spend some time perusing everything the wineries have to offer. Even take a picnic and enjoy it along the way (and don’t forget treats for the dog!). Check out all the details for the Wine Trail here.
With so much on offer, why wouldn’t you be dreaming of an Otago getaway? We know your pooch will love you for it, and what a great way to spend some quality bonding time. Kinross offers 2 night accommodation packages which are fantastic value, so make sure you check out their website here for more info – we know where we will be heading this summer!
